Where can I listen to the podcast?
On the Podcast page, you can stream every episode or download them in MP3 format and listen later. It’s also available on iTunes, Stitcher, and Spotify.
When will the next episode be released?
I can’t say for sure; it depends entirely on the topic I’m looking at for that particular episode. Some folk-wrestling styles are much harder to research than others - for reasons ranging from language barriers to sheer lack of written records - so each episode tends to have its own, entirely variable timeline. I want to do each and every style justice, and will never rush an episode out for the sake of having a faster release schedule.
In general, for the main episodes (i.e. the ones in which I really dive into the history and culture of a particular style) I’d estimate it takes roughly 2-3 months to fully research, compile, and release one. Occasionally I’ll release short, bite-sized episodes on related topics (e.g. “Is it possible to revive a dead folk-wrestling style?”). These take less time to prepare since they’re largely just off-the-cuff discussions, but I still like to do some reading for each one, so a new bite-sized episode might pop up every few weeks or so.
How can I buy one of those historical grappling maps?
All maps are available here.
What type of paper are the maps printed on?
The default paper option is matte, but you can also choose to have it printed on the more traditional semi-gloss poster paper if you want. Personally I think matte works best for maps anyway. I’d particularly recommend sticking with matte if you’re planning to frame the print, since semi-gloss can look quite shiny depending on the light source, especially when behind an additional layer of glass.
Semi-gloss is admittedly a bit more durable, although that would really only be a consideration if you’re planning on rolling or moving the print a lot.
Long story short: just go for the default “Add to Cart” option on Zazzle unless you really want it shiny.
Can I order them directly from you?
No, sorry. All the maps are produced as print-on-demand, so I don’t have any stock I can sell directly.
Where can I keep track of new podcast episodes/maps?
If you subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or Spotify, you’ll automatically be notified when a new episode is online. You can also follow me on Instagram or Twitter; I’ll always post there when something new goes live.
